Biography

Naseem Hijazi (1911-2015) was born in the small, remote village of Shamuhera, a very poor farming community nestled between the mountains in the northwest of Pakistan. His father was a shepherd and his mother a housewife and by the age of eight, it was already clear that he would be a writer. Naseem Hijazi spent his first years at home. With no formal education, he was able to read books from his father’s library and all the stories that he loved were written in Urdu.
